A new Jack and the Beanstalk movie could be on the way from Disney and Vince Gilligan.
This comes from Deadline who report that, “Disney is acquiring Beanstalk, a revisionist take on the Jack and the Beanstalk tale that is based on a detailed outline by Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan.”
Thomas Schnauz, writer of various episodes of “Breaking Bad”, “Better Call Saul”, and “The X-Files” would be writing the screenplay with Gilligan and Mark Johnson (who served as a producer on both “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” as well as a slew of films) producing. Deadline also mentioned that there’s a possibility that Gilligan could direct.
More details on this interesting project will hopefully be available soon (including if this is live-action or animated). Since Disney announced their full slate of films through 2017 at CinemaCon, don’t expect to see it until 2018 at the earliest.
